Biography

Art has been in my life ever since I could remember, having entered and undergone the process of being part of the American culture and converging it with Haitian culture. Art has been both an ally and a canvas in this experience: one that has been incredibly happy and sad in relatively equal parts. Taking this into account, I conceive my different pieces of work as a single unit of creation where the art of an immigrant and a self-starter dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder can be terrifying. The central aspect of my work is that being a creative-minded person saved my life.

My creative work includes painting, sculptures, photographs, and graphic design. Knowing different art procedures helps my creativity flow, and working across various mediums positively affects my work. For example, one of my sculptures created a path in abstract art for me as an artist to expand working with abstract painting. My Photographs are an extension of what I see and are a way to introduce my originality to the art world. It also aids me with my love for abstract art because it helps me create new conceptual art. Just like every photograph is different, I show further inventiveness with abstraction.

My designs are another extension of myself. I often use acrylic paint, colored pencil, watercolor, and pen and ink. I like how the mediums translate and incorporate lines differently and how the aesthetics differ. Many of my works explore how different strokes, patterns, lines, and shapes combine to show the narratives at hand. I find inspiration from everyday lifestyle. My goal is to create art from personal experiences and real-world life experiences stories that can reside with my audience.
